Old Media shows its Communist Stripes

The Old Media are breathless again. They are reporting with great fervor and feigned outrage at another story of utmost importance. Setting aside their lust for US military body count statistics and Cindy Sheehan's now-lunatic rnatings, the OM has a new target.

Televangelist Pat Roberts has suggested that the US assassinate Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

According to Yahoo News:
...Robertson said killing Chavez would be cheaper than starting a war to oust him. Getting rid of Chavez would stop Venezuela from becoming a "launching pad for communist influence and Muslim extremism," Robertson said.

"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said. "We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator."

Obviously, it is not US policy to assassinate world leaders. And there are many other ways to remove Chavez from the presidency - a position he obtained with massive fraud, but ultimately blessed by Jimmy Carter, the former president who hasn't met a terrorist he didn't love.

The real story is how the media is in full spin mode - and they have two purposes: damage conservatives by going after a self-appointed leader and rushing to the aid of another communist dictator.

Get out the fainting couch. They never report the rantings of the left - especially when they call for the assassination of president Bush. When a conservative with big name recognition notes that assassinating a dictator is an option, they freak out.

They fawn all over dictators any chance they get. They have always loved Castro. They blame the US military for picking on Saddam. They blast Bush for bullying Jong-Il.

Is there a dictator that they don't love?

Perhaps - but the problem lies in their definition. "Dictators" - at least in their minds - have a Christian faith. They support capitalism, liberty, and freedom. They use the military as a defense mechanism. They trust the people to do the right things. They believe in rugged individualism.

The OM has such a twisted view of the world. And because of that, they hated Regan. And, my, how they hate Bush now.
