GROVE CITY, PA – Newly elected mayor Randy Riddle administered the oath of office to the winners of the 2005 general election.
*Tooting my own horn* I won the write-in election to the four-year seat vacated by Karen Shaffer, who decided not to run for re-election. The seat is located in the fifth ward of the borough.
According to the Herald (Sharon, PA), I received 105 votes, which was the most garnered by any write-in candidate in Mercer County. Thank you voters! 198 seats were determined by write-in voting.
Jeff Black won the two-year seat in ward five, which was up for special election. The term fills out the remainder of Mayor Riddle’s council term. Other council winners were George Pokrant, Joel Bigley, Richard Slagle, and Andrea Folkertsma.
Pokrant was unanimously voted by council to remain president. Bill Limberg was also unanimously selected to remain as vice president.
Numerous issues face council this year, such as downtown revitalization and water treatment plant rennovation/expansion. Council hasn't raised taxes in over 20 years. It's time to keep the streak alive!
